Meatball

Number of Repetitions:   Head moves through 3 cycles, each day for 4 weeks.

Goal:    To move head forward and backward in the two positions, smoothly and easily, while breathing normally.

Exercise:         

1. Lie on back. Curl up into a ball, wrapping arms around legs in “meatball” position (Figure 1). Shoulders may need to be supported by another person at first.

  1. Move head back (Figure 2) and hold for 5 seconds.

  1. Tuck chin to chest and move head forward (Figure 3) and hold for 5 seconds.

  1. Perform 3 cycles of head moving backward and forward. Initially, if unable to maintain meatball position, you may return to lying on back between cycles.

 

Observations:

  • Holding breath.

  • Unable to attain meatball position.

  • Unable to maintain meatball position as head moves.

Please review the observation checklist. If any deviations or improper techniques are still observed after 4 weeks, continue this exercise for another week
